The Analytical Engine

The Analytical Engine is our deterministic model for international football: Elo ratings blended with squad expected-goals data, adjusted for defensive suppression and tournament form, then run through a Poisson model for exact scoreline probabilities.

Verified Track Record

Every prediction is scored against the real result once the match finishes — this record is computed from those scored results, not self-reported.

What The Analytical Engine Weighs

  • •World Football Elo ratings as the baseline for relative strength
  • •Top-11 expected-goals output, adjusted for finishing and chance quality
  • •Defensive suppression from defender and midfielder ball-winning data
  • •Recent-form momentum, then a Poisson model for exact scoreline probabilities

How It Differs From the Other Profiles

Unlike the three LLM profiles, The Analytical Engine is fully deterministic: the same inputs always produce the same probabilities, and no language model touches the numbers. The AI only writes the words around them. It powers all World Cup 2026 and international friendly predictions, where deep league data is unavailable but Elo and squad xG data are strong.

When a Match Is Routed Here

All international fixtures — World Cup 2026 (group stage through the final) and friendlies — are routed to The Analytical Engine, because international sides lack the week-to-week league data the LLM profiles rely on. Routing is deterministic — the same fixture data always goes to the same profile, and every prediction page states the routing reason under its headline.
